Therapy and Consulting

Overview

My approach begins with a thorough assessment to understand the symptom presentation in the context of trauma, attachment history, and nervous system dysregulation.

Treatment focuses on evidence-based, trauma-informed modalities that support adaptive neuroplasticity. I frequently use bilateral stimulation to target unresolved traumatic memories that maintain symptom expression.

I also incorporate Emotionally Focused and Experiential therapies like:

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a structured, evidence-based psychotherapy developed to help people process and heal from trauma and distressing experiences. It uses bilateral stimulation—typically eye movements—to help the brain reprocess traumatic memories so they no longer cause emotional distress. EMDR follows an eight-phase protocol and is widely used to treat PTSD, anxiety, and other mind-body conditions.

CBT  (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) is a structured, evidence-based form of psychotherapy that focuses on identifying and changing unhelpful thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors. It teaches clients practical skills to challenge negative thinking patterns, manage emotions, and develop healthier coping strategies. CBT is widely used for conditions like depression, anxiety, and chronic pain.

EAET (Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy) helps patients reconnect with disavowed emotions and bodily sensations in a safe, structured way.

PRT (Pain Reprocessing Therapy) is another key modality, helping patients reframe chronic symptoms as brain-generated and modifiable through cognitive, emotional, and somatic engagement.

Columns Work is a mind-body approach for treating chronic pain and neuroplastic symptoms. It helps individuals identify emotional factors that contribute to physical symptoms. The system uses structured journaling and self-reflection, organized into “columns,” to uncover emotional triggers, reduce fear of symptoms, and promote healing.

The key difference between therapy and a coach using the Columns System lies in scope and role:

  • Therapy using the Columns System (as done by trained clinicians) integrates the method into clinical treatment, addressing underlying trauma, emotional regulation, and mental health diagnoses. The therapist works within a licensed framework, offering psychological support and potentially treating conditions like anxiety, depression, or PTSD.

  • A coach using the Columns System helps clients apply its principles—like journaling, identifying emotional triggers, and reducing symptom fear—for personal insight and symptom relief. The coach does not diagnose or treat mental health conditions but instead guides clients in using the system to support mind-body healing, emotional awareness, and behavioral change.

In essence, therapy is clinical and may be deeper or trauma-focused, while coaching is educational, supportive, and action-oriented within a non-clinical context.

I provide therapy for individuals who live in, or travel to Illinois- in person, these include modalities such as  (EMDR, CBT, PRT, EAET, Somatic work, and Columns work).

I provide Coaching (for the Columns system only), for individuals who reside outside of Illinois. Click here if you are interested in learning about Coaching Intensives
